Founder of Taconic Advisory Services

Charles (Chip) Schorin is the Founder and Managing Member of Taconic Advisory Services LLC, a consulting firm servicing clientele at the intersection of the mortgage and fintech spheres, advising on product structure, strategy and capital markets, as well as venture investing in early stage companies.

For 15 years through early 2020, Chip was a Portfolio Manager at Elliott Management Corporation, a hedge fund in New York with approximately $50 billion under management, where he founded and led the mortgage backed securities trading business, as well as investments in other secured assets. Chip also led the creation of the analytical tools used for mortgage bond valuation, including estimating the original econometric prepayment and default models used in Elliott’s mortgage analytics.

Prior to joining Elliott in 2005, Chip worked at Morgan Stanley for 10 years, where he was a Managing Director responsible for research on all collateralized securities worldwide. After his non-compete with Elliott expired, Chip set up Taconic Advisory Services.

Prior to his Wall Street career, Chip was a staff economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President of the United States, as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Chip earned his Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in economics from Princeton University, where he was awarded fellowships by Princeton University, the International Finance Section of the Department of Economics and the Lloyd Foundation. He is a member of the advisory board of the Bendheim Center of Finance at Princeton.

Chip and his wife, Michelle, have three adult children and live in New York City with their Bernese Mountain Dog.
